Parents' Day Out

PDO Logo

The Parent’s Day Out ministry (PDO) Avondale United Methodist Church is a program for children 6-weeks through 4K.

PDO is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (Tue./Thur. only during the summer). During their time with us our trained staff will provide your child with a safe, nurturing learning environment in which your child can thrive.

The PDO Philosophy

PDO offers more than childcare; it is a dynamic learning environment in which children participate in age-appropriate activities and lessons designed to foster cognitive, physical, spiritual, and social development. Our program is one of the most respected part-time preschool programs in the area. Our graduates enter kindergarten with a solid foundation in the language, math, and social skills they will need to succeed and the moral foundation that will help them become who God dreams they can be.

How the Program Works

PDO is available to children who are at least 6-months old through five years old (pre-kindergarten). During the school year the program operates three days per week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Children may attend one, two, or all three days. During the summer the program operates two days per week: Tuesday and Thursday. Children may attend one day or both days.

School year: Classes run from September through mid-May with a Christmas break and a spring break (see the calendar for a current schedule).

Summer: Our summer program, which runs in June and July is divided into two four-week terms (see the calendar for a current schedule). Our summer program is available only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Times: Drop-off is 9:00 am. Pickup is at 1:00 pm. Early drop-off and late-pickup are not allowed.

Staff: Our teachers highly trained. They have training in CPR, first aid, and medication administration. Teachers in our three- and four-year old classes have training in early childhood education. All staff are background checked and abide by our stringent child protection policies.
